Meet Cindy Ruelas
CEO | Financial Controller | Profitability Consultant
After more than three decades working alongside hundreds of businesses, Cindy Ruelas has learned that numbers only become valuable when they help business owners make better decisions.
As Founder and CEO of Oracle Profitability, Cindy serves as a Financial Controller for businesses generating between $1 million and $10 million in annual revenue. She works alongside business owners, bookkeepers, CPAs, and fractional CFOs to strengthen financial reporting, improve profitability, and help leadership make confident financial decisions.
Working across hundreds of businesses has taught Cindy that every set of financial statements tells a story. Her job is to understand what's creating that story and help business owners write a better next chapter. Every business is different, but certain patterns emerge. She's seen businesses with strong revenue struggle because cash flow couldn't support growth. She's seen profitable companies make poor decisions because leadership wasn't getting the financial information they needed. She's also seen how relatively small changes to financial reporting, operational processes, or financial systems can dramatically improve profitability and cash flow.
Experience has taught Cindy what to look for. Curiosity keeps her asking why. Together, they allow her to recognize opportunities and risks that are often difficult to see from inside the business itself.
Cindy's Story
Early in her career, Cindy discovered that the accounting firm she worked for relied on just five major clients. From the outside, the firm looked successful. But Cindy couldn't stop thinking about what would happen if even one of those clients left.
Instead of accepting that risk as part of doing business, she started looking for ways to strengthen the firm. She helped attract new clients, improve internal processes, and reduce unnecessary costs. As those changes took shape, she realized something that would shape the rest of her career.
" I loved solving these kinds of challenges," Cindy says. "Seeing the numbers improve was exciting, but knowing I was making a difference for the people behind the business was what really mattered."
When she was later offered a partner role, she surprised herself by saying no. It was an incredible opportunity, but she wanted something different. She wanted to work directly with business owners, helping them understand their numbers, solve problems before they became expensive, and build healthier businesses.
She and her husband founded Oracle Profitability. More than thirty years later, that same purpose continues to guide the work she does every day.
Why Businesses Hire Cindy
As a Financial Controller, Cindy helps business owners build the financial foundation they need to make confident decisions. She works closely with bookkeeping teams, accounting staff, CPAs, and fractional CFOs to ensure the financial information guiding those decisions is accurate, organized, and useful.
Because Cindy began her career in bookkeeping and accounting, she understands the importance of getting the fundamentals right. Today, she leads a team that provides bookkeeping and accounting support while she focuses on strengthening the financial systems that support the business. That combination allows Oracle Profitability to support clients from accurate day-to-day bookkeeping through to experienced Financial Controller services.
Depending on the needs of the business, Cindy's work may include:
Financial Controller Services
Bookkeeping Management & Oversight
Profitability Consulting
Cash Flow Planning
Financial Reporting
Budgeting & Forecasting
Payroll Oversight
Financial Process Improvement
Every engagement is different because every business is different. Cindy begins by understanding what the owner is trying to accomplish, then helps build the financial foundation needed to support those goals.
Who Cindy Works With
Cindy primarily works with businesses generating between $1 million and $10 million in annual revenue. Most of her clients have reached the point where running the business has become more complicated than simply understanding the numbers. Growth has introduced new challenges, reporting needs have changed, and leadership is making bigger decisions with greater financial consequences.
They don't need another set of financial statements or a system that wasn’t built for their business. They need an experienced Financial Controller who can help them understand what the numbers mean, identify opportunities they may not see themselves, and make informed decisions about what comes next.
Her clients span professional services, construction, retail, and other growing industries. She regularly collaborates with business owners, internal accounting teams, bookkeepers, CPAs, and fractional CFOs, helping each role contribute to stronger financial leadership.
Cindy's Philosophy
Over the years, Cindy has learned that business owners rarely define success the same way. For some, it's building wealth. For others, it's creating opportunities for their family, building a business they can eventually sell, or creating the freedom to spend more time doing what matters most. Whatever the goal, Cindy believes financial decisions should help owners move closer to it.
Profitability has never been about producing another financial report or simply increasing revenue. It's about building a financially healthy business that gives owners more confidence, more choices, and the ability to create the future they set out to build.
"Every business owner I work with has a dream for what their business can become," Cindy says. "I thrive helping them build the financial foundation that gets them to that dream."
Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Cindy works with clients nationwide, providing practical, results-driven strategies with a personal touch. When she’s not helping businesses thrive, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two puppies or taking her Corvette out on the open road.
